ISSUES & RESOURCES

At the heart of Pacific Peoples' Partnership’s initiatives is our mission to support the aspirations of Pacific islanders for peace, justice, environmental sustainability and development. How communities define and work towards these goals, and the challenges they confront in the process, vary tremendously from place to place. For over three decades, PPP has worked to engage itself with particular communities confronting particular issues, in an effort to share a more informed understanding of the development challenges in the South Pacific with the broader international public and decision-making bodies.

Over the years, we have focused our activities around several issues including: the effectiveness of Canadian policy and Overseas Development Assistance in the region; human rights with a special focus in West Papua; gender equity and the leadership role of women in Pacific communities; environmental sustainability; globalization and trade; and, indigenous knowledge. Please see the links in the side bar for information and resources relating to a specific topic.
